“I don’t know if this should be called a professional challenge or not, but it was difficult for me to muster up the courage to start everything again after such a huge career gap, but I had to do something to prove myself. So I decide to study Machine Learning,” says Minakshi Mathpal, an alumnus of Great Learning’s PGP Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Course. Read further to learn more about her journey.

After I completed my Computer Engineering in 2008, I worked as Assistant Professor for four years. Then I took a sabbatical and completed my M.Tech degree. Currently, I am working on my AIML course with Great Learning.

Before joining PGP-AIML, I was on a sabbatical and was studying ML from MOOCs. But then I planned to go for a more structured curriculum and decided to go with Great Learning. I enrolled myself during the pandemic phase so learning online was the only option. I chose Great Learning because of the placement assistance given by Great Learning. I chose this after reading the reviews online and comparing them with other institutes. I decided to go with Great Learning.

An interactive session with faculty face to face has no replacement, but weekly online mentoring sessions at Great Learning have largely filled that gap. Mentoring sessions have helped a lot because a drawback with recorded sessions is that you can’t ask doubts, and that’s why mentoring sessions, to some extent, mend that gap. Moreover, the concerns which I shared in the feedback of mentoring sessions were also addressed well.

A variety of projects in various domains that we get to work on throughout the course surely boosted my confidence. It has given me a direction, and now I have an idea about how to prepare myself for achieving my goal.

To newcomers, I would say, go ahead and brace yourself for a roller coaster ride. It will be overwhelming sometimes, but in my opinion, since this is an industry-relevant course, it will surely show you a systematic way of solving problems.
